I am the third generation to consider this place home.
Each season had its own fun. In spring, we'd romp around the hilly woods looking for morel mushrooms. My mom taught us to collect them in mesh bags to spread spores for the next season. And she taught us that every good forager knows not to give away their secret spots!
He and my uncle invented things that were more practical than pretty (lots of duct tape and rusty hardware). Their ingenuity was impressive, and in their eyes, each was another life-changing, patent-worthy original! They swore if they ever started a business, it would be called Morel Valley Industries.
That is, in their B.C. (Before Children) days. He was a geologist, and she was an educator, and together their sense of wonder and adventure was infectious. Oddly enough, we never camped together as a family. The cottage was always our refuge.
He returned home from a class trip focused on wilderness medicine and said, "Linds, I think you'd love this." And he was right! Together, we've been on dozens of backcountry trips on foot, in a canoe, and in our 2000 Land Cruiser.
As a facilitator and writer, I'm focused on personal growth; building trust on teams; and guiding individuals and groups along their journeys.
The inspiration for these retreats is the personal and spiritual growth available from time spent outdoors.
Morel Valley is an homage to my family's sense of wonder and creativity.
It's a space for those who want to experience reverence for the natural world and our place in it. For those who wish to dig deep and reflect on their personal journeys. A space for physical activity, reflection, and connection to our own stories.
